Viewing MVR, GDTF and other 3D models
Open lighting rigs and venue models in the browser: orbit, measure, cut sections and see the beams.
3D files open in the browser like any other document: nothing to install, on a laptop or a phone. Supported:
- MVR (My Virtual Rig) scenes, as exported by lighting design and previz software such as Vectorworks, grandMA3 and Capture: layers, trusses, fixtures and set pieces with their real positions and models.
- GDTF fixture files, shown as the fixture itself.
- Models: glTF and GLB, OBJ, STL, FBX, 3DS, Collada (DAE) and PLY.
Moving around
- Orbit: drag (one finger on a phone). Pan: right-drag or Shift-drag (two fingers). Zoom: scroll or pinch, toward the pointer.
- Select: click an object (Shift-click adds more); double-click to focus on it. Right-click, or long-press on a touch screen, for everything you can do with it.
- Views: 1 3D, 2 top, 3 front, 4 side; P switches perspective and orthographic; F fits everything (or the selection).
Tools
- Measure M: click two points on the model (it snaps to a nearby corner). You get the distance, plus how far apart they are in height and across, in feet or meters.
- Section cut C: slice the model at any height to see under the roof or inside a truss.
- Beams B, X-ray X, wireframe W and the grid G.
- Hide H or isolate I what you've selected; Shift H shows everything again.
- Panels L: search every object by name or type, switch layers on and off, and see each object's details. MVR scenes also list the fixtures by type, with counts and DMX modes, and can color them by type.
- Save a picture of the current view, or go full screen.
Press ? or the help button in the viewer for this list, and Esc to clear a measurement, then the selection, then close. Very large scenes take a few seconds to prepare the first time; the progress bar shows each step.
